Oh man, I’ve been waiting for ^^^ image! BOOM!!!! Done-zo. We did it. Hubs and I finished Whole30. Except… we’re not really, truly finished. We’re doing the reintroduction plan. Gahhhh!!! Part of me really wanted to gorge. I miss my fav foods. Chocolate, mostly. BUT we’re holding back. The whole point is to find out what and how different types of food (dairy, grains, gluten, etc) affect your bod so we’re in it for the long haul. More on that and how it plays out coming soon… In the meantime, here’s how we finished up our Whole30!
Feelin’ good! Was dreading a dermatology appointment all day and ended up with two less moles on my bod afterward =( It hurt less than I thought until the numbing wore off. OUCH. And now we’re waiting on biopsy results. Oh, skin cancer, you nasty thing you. After the doc, I just wanted something easy and salmon salad was ready in the fridge for me, yay! I used to have the biggest aversion to tuna salad but I think I’m coming around. I LOVE this salmon salad! And I even more love that I can keep a batch of it in the fridge at all times. Perfect for Whole30, peeps. I smell a blog post comin’ on this one…
Breakfast: Scrambled eggs w/tomato & avocado and grapes
Lunch: Leftover chicken cacciatore
Dinner: Salmon salad w/avocado wrapped in romaine lettuce
My chest/old mole spots hurt today and I was cranky it was so HOT and we still don’t have a/c. I was intending to make some garlic shrimp for din but forgot to defrost the shrimp. Hubs came to the rescue and suggested we get sashimi and binge it up in front of Netflix. #Myperfectevening On a good note, NO skin cancer – yay!
Breakfast: Scrambled eggs w/tomato & avocado and grapes
Lunch: Salmon salad w/avocado wrapped in romaine lettuce
Dinner: Tuna, yellowtail, salmon sashimi w/coconut aminos & a green juice full of veggies
Ahhhhh Saturday! And it’s cooler! Yay! I am seriously feeling SO great!! Every time I get dressed, I can really see/feel the difference in my clothes. It’s quite fan-freaking-TASTIC people. I feel so much more in control. Saying no is easier and feels good now. Instead of feeling like I want to cry in the corner, I feel empowered and really good about my food choices. No, I’m not going to do Whole30 forever but for the moment, I’m ecstatic and happy about what it’s taught me. Today was incredibly productive. Laundry, shopping, errands, and lots of garage time pretending I’m a DIY’er that knows what I’m doing (more to come on that!) Plus, hubs made breakfast, lunch & dinner today. What the?! Whole30 has been worth it just for that!
Breakfast: Fried eggs, breakfast potatoes & spinach
Lunch: Garlic butter scallops, easy sesame shishito peppers (subbed coconut oil for veg oil & coconut aminos for soy sauce) & grapes
Dinner: Steak salad & roasted (green) cauliflower
Wow, this weekend has been one of the best! And we’re just doing mundane things like grocery shopping and sanding old furniture. I can’t tell you the last time I felt this productive and full of energy. I took over the cooking today since hubs did it all yesterday. Threw breakfast together from random leftovers and headed out into the world. Needed some staples from Trader Joe’s (clarified butter, coconut cream, hot sauce) and, of course, lots of fruit and veggies from Plaza Produce. Went swimming at the end of the day and hubby’s bathing suit DIDN’T FIT. Like, wouldn’t stay up because he’s lost so much weight. He’s a happy guy =)
Breakfast: Veggie scramble (all my leftover veggies in the fridge + scrambled eggs) & raspberries
Lunch: Sundried tomato chicken bake, artichokes & lemon garlic aioli (chicken recipe coming to the blog because you NEED it in your life!)
Dinner: Chocolate chili (I know it sounds weird but it doesn’t taste like chocolate at all. In fact, hubby still doesn’t know there was cocoa powder in it! Shhhh… don’t tell him! This was super easy to whip up a huge batch and freezes great. Totally keeping this recipe for after Whole30 too, didn’t miss the beans at all! Yes, I’ll share on the bloggity blog soon)
Apprehension is the name of the game today. Excitement and a sense of accomplishment definitely fills my soul but I’m a leeetle skerrrrrd. Like, I can eat whatever the heck I want tomorrow? For real? I kept saying ice cream would be first but I’m nervous! I feel great and don’t want that to change. Yikes! WE DID IT!!!!
Breakfast: Scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes & avocado
Lunch: Leftover sundried tomato chicken bake, artichoke & lemon garlic aioili
Dinner: Leftover chocolate chili
Annnnnnnnnd…. DONE! Man, it kinda flew by. The end did, at least. Although this is the end of the 30 days, by no means is it the end. Reintroduction begins tomorrow and I’m starting with dairy. We’ll see how it goes! One day of dairy, two more of Whole30. Then… not sure what’ll be next? Probably non-gluten grains, 2 more days of Whole30, gluten, 2 more Whole30 days, etc… Hoping this will pinpoint exactly what drives my tummy crazy and good Lord I hope it’s not gluten. Or sugar. If I could specifically be ok with mint chocolate chip Thrifty’s ice cream and mint milanos, all will be right with the world. Hubby says he’s sticking to Whole30. Ummmm, does that mean he’ll be the one doing ALL the shopping, prepping, cooking? If so, I’ll take it. Plus a thin mint. So, what can you expect on the blog from here on out? Some more Whole30 updates/rantings/conclusions as well as recipes. I’ve got a lot of yumminess to share that you will enjoy whether you’re doing Whole30 or not. Promise! And, yes, I’ll still make things like this and this. Because, all things in moderation people. Thanks for hanging in there with me the last 30 days. You rock.
